Discussion:
[SM-USERS] Large attachments in SM stall Firefox browser

CentOS-6.8
Squirrelmail-1.4.22 (SM)
Apache-2.2.15
PHP-5.3.3
Firefox-45.6.0 (FF)

I have a message with a large (8M) attachment. When I attempt to open
this message in SM using Firefox then FF invariantly becomes
completely non-responsive and the CPU utilisation rate for the FF
process goes to 100% on a quad core x86_64 running CentOS.

Is there any way to fix this?

Haven't seen that problem myself, but it's probably the web server, as
SM isn't doing anything unusual here (unless your IMAP server is slow to
retrieve a large attachment and the web request times out - still not a
SM-specific problem).

Correction. There is no attachment. The message itself is 8MB. It
is a logfile summary automatically generated by one of our hosts. I
surmise that this issue is transforming theis large text file into
html for display in Squirrelmail. However, that may be, the problem
remains the same. I cannot view very large messages in Squirrelmail
and I need to.

I discovered a work-around. I simply saved the link from the folder
contents and opened the resulting file, read_body.php, in a text
editor. I can at least read the contents which is really all that I
needed.
